Students' academic needs will be identified in collaboration with classroom teachers by looking at student performance in coursework and on Standard 7 and Form 2 National Exams, respectively. Academic mentoring sessions will be led by instructional support staff and will be divided based on age and into subject specific groups. Instructional support staff will be required to design and implement lessons that correspond with students' academic needs as well as the recommendations of students' classroom teachers. The Director of Maisha Programming will be responsible for collecting student information and grouping students into academic support teams. Teams will be coached in the academic skill that they most need help with. Academic support coaches will be well prepared for lessons because they know on which skills their team needs to improve. Although these sessions are primarily intended to improve student academic performance, it is important that they are also enjoyable for students to attend.
